In Kasungu, a motor cyclist and a passenger have died in Kasungu after a motorcycle they were riding collided with a motor vehicle along Kasungu Crescent Road this morning.

Kasungu Police spokesperson, Joseph Kachikho has identified the deceased as Maxwel Changatuwa 39, from Bowa Village, Traditional Authority Kaomba and Levinson Banda 24 from Kwambuzi Village, Traditional Authority Chilowamatambe in Kasungu District.

According to police driver of a Toyota Hilux double cabin BS 8219,

John Allubi hit the two at Kasungu Police Station when he swerved to the opposite lane after failing to control the vehicle due to speeding.

The rider, Changatuwa and his pillion passenger, Banda sustained multiple fractures and died at Kasungu District Hospital whilst receiving treatment.

This is a second accident involving motorcyclists this week alone and a total of five lives lost in the process.

Kachikho says police in the district are advising road users to adhere to all road traffic rules and regulations to avoid further accidents.
