Prophet Shepherd Bushiri of Enlighten Christian Gathering (ECG) Church has denied knowing people behind terrorist plot in Malawi as warned by the UK government.

Last month, the UK government issued a warning that terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in Malawi.

“Terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in Malawi. UK Counter Terrorism Policing has information and advice on staying safe abroad and what to do in the event of a terrorist attack. Find out more about the global threat from terrorism.

“There’s a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria. You should be vigilant at this time,” read the warning.

Yesterday, the social media was awash with a post purportedly posted by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri claiming that he is aware of the people behind the terrorist attack claims.

According to the post, Bushiri claimed that Boko Haram of Nigeria is behind the attack and the grouping is currently being headed by Gerald Chavez Kampanikiza, former Malawi government spy.

But Bushiri’s Public Relations Officer Ephraim Nyondo has trashed the claims, saying the said post is fake and is not from Bushiri.

“Received several inquiries with regards to the screenshot below apparently being circulated on social media.

“Just brush it off as it is nothing but FAKE,” wrote Nyondo.

He added: “Note that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has one official Facebook page and it is verified with a bluetick and it has over 4.3 million followers.

“The one below is fake; it’s been created by some guy who is on an extortion mission. I have amicably warned him and advised him to stop these illegal activities.”
