Govt speaks out on 8 hours power cut

Government has assured the public that it tirelessly working towards the reduction of load shedding.

Speaking to the press at a briefing in Lilongwe, Minister of Energy, Ibrahim Matola, said it is not true that the end of the Aggreko contract will affect the power supply in Malawi.

Matola said EGENCO will take over from where Aggreko stopped. He further said Egenco’s standby gensets at Kanengo will be used only when the necessity arises.

The minister also confirmed the decommissioning of the Aggreko contract.
