UDF Governor Frighton Mphompho suspended for suing Chizuma

Information reaching this publication indicates that United Democratic Front (UDF) has suspended Chikwawa district governor Frighton Mphompho for allegedly suing Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma over leaked audio clip.

UDF spokesperson Yusufu Mwawa has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying Mphompho’s actions do not reflect their views on the matter.

According to Mwawa, UDF supports the effort being made by Chizuma in fighting corruption in the country.

Mphompho moved the Mzuzu Senior Resident Magistrate Court to open a case against Chizuma on allegations of violating the Corrupt Practices Act by disclosing investigation information about corruption suspect, Zuneith Sattar to a third party.

Meanwhile, Mphompho is yet to comment on the matter.
