MACRA Suspends 5 Officials

Information reaching Face of Malawi indicates that Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) board has sent on suspension five of its officials pending investigations.
MACRA’s Communications Manager Zadziko Mankhambo has confirmed the development but did not give further details.
According to Zodiak Online, a 75th board meeting, resolutions were made to send on suspension, Director of Finance Ben Chitsonga, Director of Telecommunications Henry Silika, Director responsible for Broadcasting Fegus Lipenga, Emily Lungu responsible for USF and Procurement Officer, Chikondi Thuwala.
The board is also said to have appointed directors in acting positions, Elvin Mwapasa for Finance, Edward Kauka for Telecommunications, Matilda Bande for Broadcasting and Khumbo Kasambara as Acting head of USF.
