Mulunguzi First Grade Magistrate’s Court has convicted Penjani Sodzera, a Redeemed for Christ Church pastor, for defiling a 15-year-old girl.
Sodzera reportedly committed the offence between December 2020 and January 2021 when he defiled the girl he adopted from an orphanage, on several occasions.
The girl used to stay with Sodzera’s family at Matawale Township where she was tasked with looking after the family’s twins.
In an earlier court hearing, there was contrasting information in the girl’s age, as the victim said she was 15 while her father George Chathacha claimed the girl was 19.
In his judgement, First Grade Magistrate Jones Masula said the evidence tendered indicated that there was carnal knowledge and that there was no birth certificate to ascertain the girl’s age.
He has since adjourned the matter to Friday, April 29 for sentencing.
