Reckless Driver Fined K1.2 Million For Killing Three People

Mzimba First Grade Magistrate Court has ordered a driver Makiyoni Jonas Phiri to pay K1.2 million or serve a three year jail for reckless driving that killed three passengers.
This follows an accident that occurred at Chikangawa on the M1 road on 4th March, 2022.
In passing the verdict, Magistrate Loyness Gumbo says the fine will be compensated to three bereaved families as each family will get K400, 000.
Phiri hails from Loti Village, Traditional Authority Kwataine in Ntcheu District.
