Chief justice Rizine Mzikamanda has this morning disbarred lawyer Maxwell Tembo for improper conduct.

Mzikamanda’s decision follows an application by Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda who asked the Chief Justice to stop Tembo from practicing.

Nyirenda told the Chief Justice during the hearing that Tembo embezzled about K7 million meant for clients from 2015, conduct which he says is improper.

The Chief Justice has also ordered Tembo to refund the money with interest.

Mzikamanda will on 6 May 2022 hear three more applications from the Attorney General on lawyers Nicely Msowoya, Julius Nyambo, and Richard Katsiche on similar matters.
