A grouping calling itself ‘concerned citizens’ in Mzuzu has announced peaceful demonstrations on Friday to force President Lazarus Chakwera to fire Attorney General Thabo Nyirenda, Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Steve Kayuni and Inspector General of police George Kainja for undermining aimed at ending corruption in the country.
The grouping made the remarks during a media briefing in Mzuzu.
The leader of the grouping, Phunziro Mvula said the conduct of the police in relation to questioning of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) director Martha Chizuma is speaks volumes of the state in it’s efforts of siding with corrupt individuals.
In a statement titled “Evil won’t flourish over noble cause” the grouping said they are proceeding with the demos following the expiry of a 14 day ultimatum they gave to the President to fire the three.
The demos will start from Katoto secondary school ground to Mzuzu state Lodge.
