Zambia’s Local Minister Gary Nkombo who was under fire for forcing a Lusaka woman and her children to drink illicit alcohol known as Kachasu.
Speaking to press last night, Nkombo said after reflecting,regrets his actions hence a move to apologize to the family.
“My engagement with the press is to firstly tender an apology to the lady who we tried to contact this morning by way of bringing her to me to speak with her about the trauma that may have been caused by my emotional action of having them to taste the illegal kachasu which they have been brewing,” Nkombo said.
He continued; ““And I would like to state that I am very sorry, and I seek their forgiveness. I have searched my soul and I have reflected deeply around my action of inducing the said brewer and her “children” who are not children by the way, to taste and drink the harmful traditional alcohol.”
According to Nkombo, his actions were driven by disproportionate and emotional actions adding that he is responsible for the trauma inflicted on the family.
He then asked the family and the whole Zambian nation to forgive him for his actions.
“And I would like to state that I am very sorry, and I seek their forgiveness. I have searched my soul and I have reflected deeply around my action of inducing the said brewer and her “children” who are not children by the way, to taste and drink the harmful traditional alcohol.” he said.
Yesterday, Nkombo was under fire for forcing a woman who brews Kachasu to drink it together wit her children.
When asked if he will compensate the family, Nkombo said there is way he can compensate illegality.
