Concerned citizens led by Phunziro Mvura have cancelled demonstrations slatted for today over security threats to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is currently in the North on official duties.
The protesters were expected to march from Katoto ground to Mzuzu State Lodge where President Chakwera is currently residing.
The protesters were expected to use the same road that President is expected to use when travelling to Mzimba for crop inspection.
The development placed the security of President Chakwera at risk since demonstrations in Mzuzu are associated with violence.
The move forced the law enforcers to call for discussions with the organizers.
One of the organizers, Phunziro Mvula has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
The protesters want President Chakwera to fire Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, Director of Public Prosecutions Dr. Steven Kayuni and Inspector General of Police Dr. George Kainja.
