A 100-year-old man has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest time worked at a company.

Walter Orthmann of Brazil has worked a the same textile company for 84 years and 9 days, as of January 6, according to a release from Guinness World Records.

Orthmann started work as a shipping assistant when he was 15 years old to help support his family as they faced financial problems.

Back in 1938, kids were expected to work to help support the family,” he said, per the press release. “As the oldest son of five, my mother took me to find a job at the age of 14.

He was later promoted to a role in sales and eventually became a successful sales manager. Decades later, he celebrated his 100th birthday with family, friends and coworkers in April.

Orthmann said his best career advice is to find a good employer and follow your passions.

“When we do what we like, we don’t see the time go by,” he said

Walter broke his own record he set in 2019 with 81 years and 85 days.
