CFTC investigates unfair upward adjustments of prices for basic commodities

Competition Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has launched an inspection exercise on the availability and prices of basic commodities on the market.
Innocent Helema, Public Relations Officer for CFTC, has said commission has launched the exercise after noting a number of complaints on social media on the scarcity and a spike in the prices of some commodities including sugar.
Helema said the inspection exercise is being conducted across the country.
He added investigations will be conducted against the culprits after the completion of the exercise.
