United Transformation Movement (UTM) vice president Michael Usi who is also a cabinet minister in the Tonse Alliance led government has been praised for denouncing spoken alleged division between his party and Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Speaking on Kamuzu Day in Lilongwe, the Minister of Tourism told the country’s head of state Lazarus Chakwera that some MCP senior members are planning on outsing UTM form the Tonse Alliance.

Usi who is well known in speaking in parables, said that they are in a boat and some are trying to push the other on the middle of the lake from the boat.

Usi made it clear that they will not get off the boat.

He then called for unity between the two governing parties, instead of political bickering as the country faces socio-economic challenges.

A Zomba based political commentator Mustapha Hussein has since applauded Usi for coming out in the open to speak out against the divisions.

Makhumbo Munthali, a good governance expert said there is wisdom in Usi’s remarks and if used can benefit the country more.
