NIGERIA – Deborah’s mother has pledged that her seven surviving children will not go to school again after her daughter was killed in Sokoto for suspected blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad.

“What happened to me is my cross, and I will absolutely wear it,” the anguished mother said in an interview with Vanguard, “but none of my seven surviving children will attend to school again.”

Deborah’s mother, Mrs Alheri Emmanuel, stated that they do not want anything from the government and that the Almighty God will take control.

Alheri was taken to the hospital after learning of her daughter’s death. She was released and stated that she is improving and that she feels she will recover from the shock.

Deborah Samuel, 25, was the eldest child of her parents and a 200-level student at Wamako, Sokoto State’s Shehu Shagari College of Education.

Deborah was murdered and burned by her classmates after being accused of blasphemy. Her ashes were laid to rest in her hometown of Tungan Magajiya in Niger State’s Rijau Local Government Area on Saturday.

Many people around the country were moved by her horrible murder, and they have called on the government to see that justice is done.

We pray that God would provide consolation to her family. Please send the family some condolence messages.
