Malawi’s Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Titus Mvalo has cleared members of Tonse Alliance from being beneficiaries of Zuneth Sattar contracts he had with government.

During today’s episode of government faces the press, Mvalo said no member of Tonse Alliance ever benefitted from Sattar who is being accused of corruption in the country and United Kingdom.

“If we are to talk about the Zuneth Sattar corruption case, no Tonse Alliance government member benefitted from the contracts Mr. Sattar had with the Malawi government since all the deals were signed during the previous government. What the Tonse government did when it came into power was to terminate those contracts,” he said.

According to Mvalo, rumors that the Tonse led administration is the most corrupt, is nothing but a misconception.

He continued that the Tonse Alliance government is the most dedicated government in fighting corruption as it is seen by increasing funding of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

“We wanted to clear this misconception that the Tonse Alliance is the most corrupt government. This is not true. This government is bent on fighting corruption. That’s the reason we increased funding to Anti-Corruption Bureau when we took over,” he said.
