Mwanza Police are keeping in custody Wilson Watson, 23 for intimidating a Traffic Police officer.

Mwanza Police Station’s Spokesperson, Inspector Edwin Kaunda said Watson on May 8, 2022 while driving his vehicle was stopped at Mwanza Police Station roadblock by a Traffic Sergeant, Lita Chabwera and after she checked the vehicle she registered an offence of carrying unsecured goods.

“A notice to pay K10, 000 was issued to Watson but he refused to pay and decided to toss his driving license at the officer and drove away,” he said.

Kaunda said that on May 14, 2022 at around 9 pm the Watson went to house of the said officer and threatened to bewitch her.

The Spokesperson added as if this was not enough on May 15, 2022 he went again to the house of the officer and acted as he did before.

“Watson was arrested on 16 May, and on May 17 he appeared before Mwanza Third Grade Magistrate Court where he pleaded not guilty to the charge of intimidation which is contrary to section 88[1] as read with section 88[3] of the penal code,” he said.

The State Prosecutor Senior Superintendent, Georgina Mukhuna registered three witnesses who will testify against Watson in the court soon.

Watson comes from Samana Village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Kuntaja in Blantyre district.
