MALAMA Muchelemba, a youth of Mazabuka, has been slapped with an eight months jail sentence for stealing seven tins of paint from his father, all valued at K6, 000.
This is in a case which Malama Muchelemba stood trial for stealing, contrary to section 272 Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Brief facts of the matter are that on May 10, 2022, Liambani Muchelemba left home at 08:00 hours to go to his shop.
At 12:00 hours, he left the shop to go home and upon his arrival at home, he found two tins of paint on top of the fence.
He proceeded to enter his house and found the offender, Malama Muchelemba with three tins of paint and about to leave the house.
Muchelemba apprehended his son and took him to police.
While in custody, Malama confessed that two more tins where hidden under his bed, bringing the total to seven tins of paint.
Before he was sentenced, Malama told the magistrate Pasmal Meeetwa that his plan was not to steal from the father.
