Malawians should embrace more economic hardships as government has admitted that the economic situation might worsen.
Gwengwe was speaking today in Lilongwe during a press briefing.
According to Gwengwe this is so because authorities are trying to lay a solid foundation for sustainable macroeconomic policies that last.
Gwengwe has also expressed optimism that the country will get the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program.
Gwengwe has told a media briefing in Lilongwe that the IMF mission which will arrive in the country next week Wednesday, is not coming for discussions but rather negotiations for the ECF program package.
He said: “We have had the virtual discussions with the IMF for the past three months at various levels and by the virtue of them coming physically as a team, it gives us confidence to have the ECF program negotiated and approved.”
