A 24-year-old fisherman of Shiwan’gandu District has drowned in Mutambo stream after getting an epileptic siezure while fishing early this week.

Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commanding Officer Lucky Munkondya confirmed the death of Festus Kaluba of Kabwela Village in Chief Mukwikile.

According to ZANIS reports, Kaluba left his village for the stream to to set up his nets where upon arrival suddenly became convulsive before falling in the water body while feating.

The police boss said the body of the deceased was discovered yesterday in the shallow waters of the Mutambo Stream by a passerby who found Kaluba’s pair of trousers, slippers and a hoe along the stream.

She said the passerby alerted community members and a manhunt was launched around the nearby bushes and along the Mutambo Stream.

Further, Munkondya revealed that Weston Mwange the father to the deceased who is also Kabwela Village Headman informed the Police via Phone call and acting on the report, police officers visited the scene and retrieved the body with the help of concerned members of the public.

Munkondya said the body of the deceased was found with no injury but with a swollen stomach and water dripping from the mouth and nose.

She said according to the findings at the scene, police suspected no foul play.
