Centre for Democracy Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has asked the governor of the reserve bank Wilson Banda t step down from office.

This is according to a letter written to Banda by CDEDI’s executive director Sylvester Namiwa.

According to Namiwa, Banda has failed to carry out duties assigned to him hence a call for his resignation.

Namiwa continued that it is sad that Malawians are continuing suffering in the country yet the Bank is sponsoring President Lazarus Chakwera’s trips.

According to Namiwa, the bank has released K2.4 billion on Chakwera’s trips to   Switzerland and Equatorial Guinea.

Last week, the minister of Finance and Economic Development Sosten Gwengwe admitted that the country is going through tough times which will not end anytime soon.

However, Gwengwe asked Malawians to be patient saying that government is working tirelessly to bring a solution to the current economic challenges.

On the other hand Minister of information Gospel Kazako said very soon Malawi will be hosting foreigners looking for greener pasture as the Tonse Alliance government is committed in reversing the economic status of the country.
