Two people have been taken into custody by Police in Bangwe in connection to murder which happened in Dedza early this year.

Limbe Police Station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector Widson Nklane has confirmed of the development and identified the two as Gerald Maida, 18, and Lydia Kadambo, 49, both from Michongwe village in the area of Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre.

According to Nklane, Bangwe Police detectives received information from well-wishers that the two were living a suspicious and extravagant lifestyle.

“Upon receipt of the tip, in the wee hours of today, May 25th, 2022 the detectives raided their houses and arrested the two with money amounting to K600,000 recovered from Lydia’s house,” Nhlane said.

He further said that after successful interrogations, the teeneger revealed everything on how they committed the offence with his accomplices in Dedza district.

“Efforts are being made to transfer the two to Dedza Police Station to answer the charges, as officers are still on the ground to arrest the remaining suspects and police remind the citizenry to avoid harbouring criminals in their respective localities but rather report them to nearest police formations,” he explained.
