President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has said he is deeply shocked with the passing of well-known hip-hop star Martse, real name Martin Nkhata.
Martse died on Monday at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) where he was admitted after being involved in fire accident in Mangochi.
His body was laid to rest at area 18 Cemetery on Wednesday in the capital Lilongwe.
In a statement seen by this publication Chakwera said Martse’s death is big blow to the music industry as well as to the nation.
“Martin’s passing, at the young age of 28, is a colossal loss to our nation, because he used his art not just to entertain , but to also promote social and community development. He will be greatly missed.
“I wish to convey my deepest condolences to his family, all those who knew him, and who were blessed with his life and talent,” reads in part the statement.
Meanwhile, debate continues on circumstances reading to his death.
