The High court sitting in Mzimba has on Wednesday sentenced 23 year old Fumu Nyirenda to 40 years jail term for extracting a human tissue from a woman with albinism and 35 years jail term for possession of a human tissue with both sentences to run concurrently.
High court Judge Justus Kishindo meted out the sentences in a case where the convict Nyirenda chopped off two toes of Tafwauli Ngoma then aged 92 as she was making a fire in her kitchen at Kapopo Mndhlanga village in the area of Inkosi Mmbelwa in February 2020.
Nyirenda was convicted by Senior Resident Magistrate Mathews Msiska who referred the case to the high court for sentencing following submissions from the state which was being represented by Jonathan Mumba a public prosecutor in the directorate of public prosecution.
