Residents of Msongwe Ward in Mzuzu City (MCC) want their councilor, Kondwani Brian Nyasulu, removed from office for not undertaking his duties.
The residents have since organised a solidarity march which will take place on May 31, 2022 to MCC Civic offices where they intend to present their petition calling for the removal of Nyasulu from office.
In a letter dated May 23, 2022 and made available to Malawi News Agency, the residents accuse Nyasulu, who is the former MCC Mayor, for extensively missing from his duties.
“We wish to inform the council that we have organised a solidarity march to deliver a petition demanding the removal of our ward councilor, Kondwani Brian Nyasulu, for extensively missing in our ward since December 17th 2021 when he lost his mayoral position.
This is going to be a peaceful march which will involve local residents and other stakeholders such as block leaders, chiefs, representatives of local non-governmental organisations, women and the youth,” reads part of the letter signed by Francis Chirambo who is a representative of the concerned residents.
While confirming that the letter has reached the office of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for MCC, the citys Public Relations Officer, Macdonald Gondwe refused to comment more on the issue.
