Civil Society Organisation under the banned Centre for Democracy Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has given the director of National Intelligence (NIS) Dokani Ngwira 7 days to explain the visit of Zuneth Sattar early this year.
Reports has it that in March this year, Sattar visited the country despite restrictions by the United Kingdom government that he should not visit the country.
The country’s security agency feigned ignorance on the said vist of Sattar who is accused of corruption in UK and Malawi.
CDEDI executive director Sylvester Namiwa called on Ngwira to explain or resign, no in between.
Namiwa said Malawians need to know why Sattar, a United Kingdom-based businessperson travelled to Malawi from March 16-25, 2022.
According to Namiwa, if the NIS boss fails to to do according to their demand, CDEDI will use legally available means to pile pressure on him to resign or get fired.
“Malawians have the right to know precisely how long did Sattar stay in Malawi, who did he meet, how did he find his way into our territory and what mode of transport did he use including the point of entry and departure.” Namiwa said.
