United Democratic Front (UDF) Member of Parliament for Mangochi South Liliani Patel has been appointed as Acting President of UDF.

Patel replaces Atupele Muluzi who has resigned from frontline politics with immediate effect.

Speaking after her appointment at a rally at Chinamwali in Zomba Patel promised to revamp the party ahead of the 2025 polls.

She further advised young people to take part in politics with the aim of improving the party’s grassroot structures.

“Let me appeal to young people in the country to develop interest in voting for candidates of their choice because experience has shown that most young people doesn’t vote during elections,” said Patel.

Atupele partnered Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) President Peter Mutharika in the fresh President polls which saw President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera emerging victorious.
