POLICE in Lusaka have locked up a violent heavily pregnant woman of Jack Compound who turned a cooking stick into an assault weapon with which savagely bludgeoned her 11-year-old daughter.

According to Danny Mwale, the Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Rontia Chisaka aged 33 went on the run soon after inflicting a deep wound on the forehead of her daughter Ethel Muchindu on Thursday evening.

A concerned member of the public reported Rontia to the police who launched a successful manhunt for her.

She is currently detained in police custody while her daughter was treated at Chawama Level One Hospital.
