Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) says the appointment of women in the leadership positions in the Country is a great way towards governance and development.

MHRC in a statement signed by Chairperson Scader Louis, the rights body is pleased with president Lazarus Chakwera and government for appointing women into various positions.

The body said the president is adhering to the constitution by promoting polices and legislation in achieving gender equality through the participation of women in all the spheres.

This has come when the president has recently appointed Dr. Jean Piriminta as Director of Financial Intelligence Unit, Colleen Zamba as Secretary to the President and Cabinet.

The president also appointed Rachael Mijiga as Chief Executive Officer of Malawi Gaming Board and Lingalireni Mihowa as Chairperson of the National Initiative of Civic Education (NICE) Trust.
