Former President of Zambia Edgar Chagwa Lungu has said that he cannot leave politics in the hands of selfish people while announcing that he is not done with his political carrier.

Speaking to the media, Lungu who is also called Adada by his followers said he will let the people of Zambia, referring them to as his people, know of his next move in his political journey.

According to Lungu he has been receiving petitions from different people asking him not to quit politics and he will let them know his next move after thorough consultations.

“People have written to me, both from the PF party and of course ordinary Zambians. They have submitted their concerns and I have taken note. Zambia is for us, and if needed in service, what do you do? That is why I said I’m not yet done with my political journey, soon I’m notifying you my people the next move and decision” he said.

He continued that politics is about the people and if the people are not happy they complain to leaders whom they think are able to rescue them.

“Politics is about the people. Are the people happy? If people are not happy then they will complain to us. We have heard them, we took care of them but certainly we cannot leave Politics to few selfish individuals” he added.

Lungu continued; “For now, let us wait until we notify our people the decision we are going to make. We are consulting our family, Friends, business partners and the people themselves. Once we are done, then we will come to this table and say our decision is A, B, C and D” he said.

Lungu was defeated by the incumbent Hakainde Hichilema in the August 12, 2021 general elections.

Lungu’s administration was marred with massive corruption, tribalism and nepotism.
