A 28-year-old woman has died in a road accident after a vehicle she was travelling in involved in a road accident in Chiradzulu.
Chiradzulu Police Station spokesperson Innocent Moses has since identified the deceased as Patient Namuku from Nalipa Village in Traditional Authority Kadewere in Chiradzulu District.
Moses said the accident happened along the Phalombe road and involved a motor vehicle registration number CZ 7735 Toyota Hiace minibus, driven by Richard Katawala.
Moses said on this fateful day, the driver was coming from direction of Limbe going to Phalombe along Phalombe-Chiradzulu road and upon arrival at a certain bridge near Chiradzulu Forest office the driver failed to negotiate a sharp corner and went straight and fall into the near side bridge.
Due to the impact, the deceased sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Chiradzulu District Hospital while other passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and were taken to Chiradzulu District Hospital for treatment.
It is said that the motor vehicle got extensively damaged.
Meanwhile police in the district are appealing to all road users to always adhere to road safety measures.
