Malawi’s Catholic Priest Michael Mawelera Samson who was based in Tanzanian has been found dead in at Sabasaba area in Mbeya City.
Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) spokesperson Henry Saindi has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
According to Saindi, the priest was found dead on June 11, 2022 after missing for a day.
“The Catholic Secretariat of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) regrets to announce the sudden death of Reverend Father Michael Mawelera Samson, a Missionary of Africa Priest. Late Fr. Mawelera who originally came from Mzambazi Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Mzuzu was serving as a missionary in the Archdiocese of Mbeya, Tanzania.
“As per official death announcement made by the Archbishop Gervas John Mwasikwabhila Nyaisonga, Archbishop of Mbeya, Father Mawelera disappeared from Mbeya Catholic Church Youth Centre at 6:00pm on 10th June 2022. He was found dead on 11th June 2022 at Sabasaba area in Mbeya,” reads in part the statement.
