A 49 year old man falls asleep immediately after robbing a house in Nkhuvinda village T/A Juma in Mulanje district.
According to the source, the man identified as Victor Gama went to steal in an old man’s house by the name of Chikoti on the night of 11 June 2022.
Gama managed to steal new clothes in the house, money and some of the items that Chikoti’s daughter gave to her father before returning to Lilongwe on that day.
“I think the thief came into the house after seeing the items that the daughter and the husband brought from the city, she brought a lot of food stuffs and clothes,” the source said.
She added that the thief used the back door to enter into the house and took everything he was pleased with but he failed to go back with the items because he slept at the veranda of the house up until day break.
“We were going to the field and found the items on the veranda with a man sleeping beside them while the door was open, we decided to come near the house, that was when we saw the man in deep sleep,” the source continued.
The source said she tried to wake the man but he could not get up and that was then she tried knocking on the door and immediately the owner of the house come out smiling while greeting her.
Commenting on the matter Chikoti said no one should wake the thief up since he is sleeping and he would only talk to him when he wakes up.
“I do not want to talk to anyone, the only person i will have a word with is Victor and that will be immediately after he wake up, do not ask me what happen but he will be in a better position to answer those questions not me,” Chikoti said.
Gama woke up late in the afternoon, after seeing where he was stuck he started crying while apologizing that he will never rob people again while returning the items he robbed from the old man’s house.
