The High Court in Lilongwe has ordered the Ministry of Health to offer a letter of appointment to Isabel Lipisi Tekwatekwa for post of Nursing Officer (Grade H) following a judicial review on a matter in which the ministry has been faulted for omitting to send the letter of appointment after successful walk-in interviews by the applicant conducted in April 2020.
Tekwatekwa dragged the ministry and Health Service Commission to court after she was denied the opportunity for employment as the letter never reached her.
According to a ruling by Justice William Msiska dated June 10, 2022, which Nation Online has seen, the ministry has been given 30 days to comply.
The applicant argued in her submissions that the omission to send the appointment letter was unconstitutional and illegal.
The court has also condemned the ministry with costs of the case.
