Uganda as a nation has been going through high poverty levels over the decades. The current president of Uganda honourable Yoweri Museveni who has been in leadership for thirty six years has been trying to eliminate poverty in his country but all has been in vain.

However, honourable Museveni has claimed that he should not be blamed over Uganda’s poverty. According to Museveni, the past colonial government should be blamed for bringing new crops such as coffee, tobacco among others to Uganda.

Museveni has reiterated that the Ugandans forgot their own food crops that were doing great just for the european crops that only can be exported.

Museveni has therefore said that Uganda can only move from the poverty bondage if only his people can shift their minds and think of better crops that can first satisfy their stomachs. “Tobacco farming can never help in eliminating poverty even if you grow them acres.” Museveni said.
