Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Publicity Secretary Nicholas Dausi has said no aspirant shall be imposed on DPP delegates at the convention in 2023.

Dausi said this in an interview with one of the local media houses in the country.

He said, DPP as a Democratic Party will allow everyone to campaign freely without intimidation or disciplinary actions because democracy is powerful than man’s strength.

“So as long as democracy is in this country, nobody has the power to appoint anyone in the party to be the leader of any position. By the way we must stop the tendency of intimidating those who are against opponent candidate. This will not be condoned. Let me assure all DPP delegates that they will vote at the convention without intimidation or being forced to vote for a certain candidate who is believed to be on the back of someone,” said Dausi who is also Mwanza Central MP.

He also trashed the spirit of some DPP members who come on air and decide to wash dirty linen in the public.

DPP will go to convention next year to find a replacement for Professor Peter Mutharika whose term comes to an end.

So far four candidates have lined up to battle each other, Kondwani Nankhumwa, Joseph Mwanamveka, Daliso Kabambe, and Bright Msaka.
