As President Hakainde Hichilema is scheduled to travel to Belgium tomorrow, France has turned down his request to visit that country, sources close to the presidency have said.

Sources revealed that France rejected the request saying they had their legislative elections and it would not be possible to host President Hichilema.

“President Macron expressed willingness to meet him later, but dates were not set,” sources told KBN TV.

This morning, Democratic Party President Harry Kalaba posted on his Facebook page that President Hakainde Hichilema would tomorrow be traveling to Belgium and later to Rwanda.

President Hichilema condemned the many trips by his predecessor, promising to cut down on these expensive foreign trips.

Many Zambians on social media feel the President has abrogated his commitment and was spending resources for a nation that is under distress economically.
