A 36 year old man of Kalongola area in Senanga District in Western Province has lost his genitals after a hippo attacked him while he was fishing in the Zambezi River.

Kalumbwana Chinyemba of Namita Village left his home Wednesday morning to check his fishing nets when the unthinkable happened.

A traumatized Chinyemba said the hippo pounced on him while he was in a canoe forcing it to capsize and it was during the tense moments that the the herbivorous mammal sunk its sharp teeth in his flesh, tearing off his manhood.

He added that while he fought for his life the hippo bit part of his abdomen and broke one of his legs.

The victim says, had it not been for fishermen nearby that rushed to his rescue he would have been killed. “I don’t know how I am going to be satisfying my young wife in bed, the animal has completely destroyed my marriage”, cried Chinyemba.

Chinyemba is currently admitted to Senanga General Hospital.
