Police in Dedza are looking for a woman who allegedly abandoned her baby in a maize garden.
Dedza police deputy public relations officer Cassim Manda said the baby aged between five to eight months was found unconscious by boys who were wandering in the field.
He added that police officers rushed to the scene and took the child to Dedza district hospital where he was confirmed dead upon arrival.
And an autopsy shows that cause of death was Hypothermia due to environmental exposure to freezing temperatures.
