Death has been announced of former Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Hon. Christabel Martha Ngimbu in Zambia.

Until her death, Ngimbu was a member of Patriotic Front.

Hon. Ngimbu died at Maina Soko Medical Centre in Lusaka after a short illness.

PF Acting President Given Lubinda has said he is deeply shocked with the untimely death of Ngimbu.

“Our condolences go to the family of Mrs. Ngimbu, the people of Zambezi District and to the people of Zambia over this sad loss,” reads in part the statement.

Mrs. Ngimbu was elected as a PF Member of Parliament in 2014 during a by-election after she had successfully petitioned the Zambezi West seat which was nullified.

She was subsequently appointed Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, a position she held until 2016.
