Information reaching this publication indicates that Lilongwe District Ward Councillors have closed the offices of the District Commissioner and the Director of finance over alleged abuse of funds under the Governance Enable Service Delivery (GESED).

In an with Zodiak, One of the councilors Limbani Phiri of Dzanzi Ward said the decision has been reached following the council’s failure to provide an audited report on the usage of the funds.

Phiri said the offices will remain closed until council officials make proper clarifications.

Lilongwe District Commissioner Dr. Lawford Palani has confirmed the closure of the offices but has described the action by the councilors as baseless claiming the money was properly counted for.
