Police in Zambia have launched a manhunt for three men who chopped off a finger of a 10-year-old boy as only one suspect has been identified as Kendrick.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the victim had a finger on his left hand chopped off with a sharp instrument by three men and one of them has only been identified as Kendrick believed to be a resident of Mkushi.
Mr. Hamoonga said in a statement that the incident which was reported to the police by the boy’s father, Mr Patrick Mwape happened on Saturday between 09:00 hours and 11:00 hours in Chilomo area.
“Police in Mkushi have launched a manhunt for a male person only identified as Kendrick of Mkushi and two other unknown male persons for the offence of Grievous Bodily Harm,” he said.
He said the victim was left home with his fellow minors after his parents went to church and whilst there, they received information about the incident and immediately rushed home where they found their son crying and his fore finger of the left hand missing.
Mr. Hamoonga said upon interrogation, the boy told his father that a man identified as Kendrick came home with two others and asked him to go closer to them and immediately they held him and cut off his finger using a big sharp scissors and knife.
He said the boy was taken to Mkushi District Hospital where he is admitted.
Mr. Hamoonga has appealed to the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police station.
