Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga has said that Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South Noel Lipipa was not consulted to be part of the 22 MPs who have obtained an injunction restraining Dr. George Chaponda from operating as leader of opposition in Parliament.

On Tuesday, 22 MPs belonging to the camp of DPP Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa obtained an injunction against the firing of Nankhumwa as leader of opposition by the party following a meeting held on Sunday at Peter Mutharika’s house in Mangochi.

The list included DPP MP for Blantyre City South Noel Lipipa.

But writing on his official facebook page Chimbanga claimed that Lipipa was not consulted on the matter.

“Just got off the phone with our Member of Parliament Honourable Noel Lipipa for Blantyre City South who confirmed with me that he was not consulted by Kondwani Nankhumwa for his name to be included on the list of the 22 MPs who sought an injunction against the Election of the New Leader of the Opposition Dr George Chaponda, MP.

“I hear many were not consulted and want their names removed from the list. Crooked Botomani of Covid 19 allowance gate and his Camp President should be prosecuted for lying to the Court. They should be jailed. This is a serious offence,” wrote Chimbanga.

Effort to talk to Lipipa proved futile.

Meanwhile, Nankhumwa is still serving as leader of opposition in Parliament following an injunction obtained by the 22 MPs.
