State Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima has revealed that UTM Party and the MCP agreed that the President who would represent the Tonse Alliance in the 2020 fresh presidential election would only serve one term and cede power to the running mate in the next election.
Chilima said this during a national address currently underway at UTM office in the capital Lilongwe.
In his speech Chilima said the UTM and MCP agreed to have mutual respect in executing the Tonse Alliance agreement and running government affairs among others.
Chilima said UTM did not join it for political convenience.
He said it was an alliance formed through the will of people.
