A grouping calling itself General Membership of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has shifted to Friday its press briefing it planned to hold today in Lilongwe over misunderstandings of the venue.
According to a statement the grouping released on Sunday signed by its National Coordinator Alex Major the planned briefing was supposed to take place at MCP regional office in Area 3, Lilongwe.
But MCP’s party regional chairman Patrick Zebron Chilondola said Major and his counterparts are not allowed to hold their briefing at the party’s offices because Major does not hold any position in the party.
On his part, Major said he decided to postpone the briefing because President Lazarus Chakwera who is also the party’s president of the party had engagements today.
As Chilondola quashed the existence of National Coordinator in the party, Major said he will proceed with the briefing this Friday at the party’s regional office.
According to a statement by Major, he wants to comment on the Press briefing held by Country’s vice president Saulos Chilima last week Friday, another briefing by MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka, MCP convention in 2023, progress report on how MCP is being run and corruption issues in Malawi.
Major was member of Parliament for Kasungu west.
