The High Court has adjourned to July 18, 2022 a case where 22 Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Members of Parliament are challenging the appointment of Dr. George Chaponda as leader of opposition in Parliament.
The 22 MPs led by Welani Chilenga claim that the election of Chaponda did not follow due processes as the said MPs were not invited.
The case was set for interparty hearing today but the presiding Judge Kenyatta Nyirenda has adjourned the case to July 18.
Lawyer for the lawmakers Wapona Kita has confirmed the development.
Last week, the court allowed DPP Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa to join the case since he is an interested party to the case.
