A 21-year-old woman identified as Velentina Phiri of Ng’ombe Village, Traditional Authority Kapelula in Kasungu District has risen from the dead after she died in 2017.

According to Police information, her father Mr Slodia Phiri, 51, of the same particulars reported the matter to Ndola Police Unit.

Velentina collapsed on September 24th, 2022 at around 17:00hours while digging cassava at their garden and she was taken to Chamama Anglican Clinic where she was referred to Mtunthama Anglican Church Clinic unfortunately,  she died while in transit in an ambulance and her burial took place on 25th September, 2017.

It has been indicated that since then she had been appearing to several people but later vanished before fully being recognised.

On 5th, July 2017 around 05:00am a woman of strange face appeared in the same Village where the father took her for prayers until her face become resembling to her daughter who died in 2017 and that happened during prayers.

A day after, she was completely recognised to be the one who died in 2017 and she was able to recognise the names of her relatives who came in to see her and she demanded for her national identity card which was safely kept by her father.

After police got the information, they visited the scene of crime led by Station Officer for Kasungu Police Station S/Supt Ides Mlenga and they interviewed the parents as well as the resurrected woman and find the tomb where her body was buried with no any cracks or openings.

“According to the resurrected woman during interview, she said she could remember all what happened at the cassava garden where she collapsed including everything about her burial ceremony but she had no powers to speak as she was in spirit,” police information indicated.

Currently, samples from all relatives for DNA test has been collected and enquiries are still in progress to establish the truth of the matter.
