POLICE in Lusaka have detained four of their own officers accused of stabbing a 20-year old youth to death in a quarrel over beer at a Night Club in Lilayi.

According to reports, the four officers including an inspector and three constables were having a good time after creating a black table of intoxicating beaverage at Mimos Night club in Lilayi when they were interrupted by a tipsy Moses Theu.

In a drunken stupor, Theu immediately reached for the black table and confiscated some of the beer bottles angering the the cops.

In feat of rage, one officer grabbed a bottle, smashed it to the ground and violently drove the sharp part in Theu’s left side of neck and in the process inflicted a deep cut.

Theu was rushed to chawama Hospital for treatment where he was admitted and died later.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said officers visited the scene of the crime and apprehended four police officers in connection with the matter

“These are: Inspector Febian Palata, Constables Lewis Mufwempa and James Mfula.The trio are from Lilayi and the fourth suspect Detective Constable Mulonda Mukelabai is from Chawama police station,” Hamoonga told #Kalemba in a statement.

“The Suspects are currently detained in police custody,” added Hamoonga.

He said a docket of case had been opened and investigations were on going.
