Estranged Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa has said he is ready to face former President Peter Mutharika at the party’s elective conference slated for next year.

Nankhumwa’ stand follows Mutharika’s interview with the Voice of America where he indicated that he has been getting calls to contest for the presidency in elections slated for 2025.

“I have already said I am ready to contest against anyone who wants to contest at the convention. And I must say I will win,” he said.

Some top officials in the party led by DPP’s regional governor for the South Charles Mchacha endorsed Mutharika as the party torchbearer in the forthcoming 2025 polls.

Mchacha claimed that the move will help end the ongoing leadership squabbles rocking the party.
