Kasungu police spokesperson Joseph Kachikho has said Game rangers from Kasungu National Park have managed to gun down an elephant which escaped the Park and caused havock in the area of Chief Chisemphere in Kasungu.
Kachikho confirmed that the elephant killed one person and seriously injured a Kabaza operator before it was eliminated.
The incident is coming at a time the department is translocating 250 elephants from Liwonde to Kasungu National Park as a way of restocking the park to attract tourists.
